Leonard Nimoy passed away a couple of days ago and it’s still hard for me to believe that he did pass away.
I grew up watching the original Star Trek television series with my dad. Kirk was a character I wish I could be. Dashing, daring, and no-nonsense kind of guy. He’s like the cool jock in your high school. Everyone wants to be him and be with him. The thing is, I could relate more to Spock. He was quiet, reserved, and sort of an outcast because he was half-human/half-Vulcan. I’m not saying that growing up I was an outcast although being in the marching band in high school almost does make you feel like one. Spock was a character I think that a lot of nerds like myself could relate to.
One of the saddest moments in nerd history was when Spock died in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”. (Almost as sad as Optimus Prime’s death in Transformers: The Movie (animated not live-action)).
I found out later that Leonard Nimoy was a photographer and even studied photography at UCLA.
Leonard Nimoy not only influenced my life but a lot of others and it’s very sad that he has passed.
Live long and prosper.
